Main advantages of biopolymers
Biodegradable
Derived from natural resources or oil resources, PBS and PBAT is compostable into biomass, carbon dioxide and water (according EN13432).
Products made from Tunhe’s PBS and PBAT can be disposed of along with organic waste.
Tunhe’s PBS and PBAT have no adverse effects on the environment and is naturally compostable, without requiring a specialized composting facility.
Biobased
Tunhe’s portfolio compromises a biobased PBS which is made from caster oil out of beans from the Ricinus plant.
Food-approved
All biodegradable polymers of Tunhe’s (biobased PBS and PBAT) have European Food Approval according EU10/2011. Therefor they are suited for food packaging applications.
Conventional processing equipment
Processing Tunhe’s biodegradable polymers does not require special equipment; they can be applied in current extrusion coating machines, blown film extruders, and injection molding machines.
Biobased PBS benefits
- High Service Temperature: Applications made by biobased PBS can withstand up to 100°C. Biobased PBS can be used for hot beverage cups, boxes, and utensils for freshly cooked food.
- High heat sealing performance: Having at least same level of seal strength as conventional petro-plastic but achieved with lower temperature. We provide the same performance with less cost in waste disposal expense.
- Printable without pre-treatment
- Compatible with natural fibers
- Excellent Processability: available in wide range of MFI’s to suit your requirements.
- Mutual compatibility with other biodegradable plastics such as polylactic acid (PLA). PBS is ideal to combine with other biodegradable polymers that have high elastic modulus and strength, but are very brittle. Mixing biobased PBS with other types of biopolymers can meet customer requirements in a greater degree of properties. Please contact us to find out more.
- Tunhe’s PBS is certified all over the world for biodegradation and food contact
Applications for biobased PBS
- Organic waste bags
- Fruit and vegetable bags
- Mulch films
- Paper coating
- Thermo forming packaging
- Injection molding
