PBS
“A bio-based high performance polymer that is industrially compostable”
PBS (PolyButylene Succinate) is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. PBS is a biodegradable aliphatic polyester that looks in its properties most like polypropylene. Pycnoplast offers a PBS made by Tunhe, with almost 50% biosourced raw materials, i.e. succinic acid that is made using beans from the Ricinus plant.
Typical properties of PBS
- Almost 50% biobased using beans from the Ricinus plant.
- Fully compostable alternative to PP (industrial composting, TÜV Label); very stable in non-composting environments
- High compatibility in combinations with other biopolymers and natural fibers
- Available in a broad MFI range of 4 to 30 g/10 min (190°C), to be used in most common processing types
